Weekend Wrapup

I’m bad @ this blogging thing. Actually, I was once good but I think Twitter has robbed me of long form posts which is stupid but whatever. I’ll try and get better. So what’s new?

Home

We have a rotting deck, a leaking skylight and my lawn is full of crabgrass. What a pain in the ass owning a house is.

Mr. I

Bounced back from his adenoid removal quite well. There was a stretch post-op where he wasn’t eating or drinking anything that had L. and I worried, but eventually he returned to his old grouchy, picky eating self.

He’s been working hard in swimming lessons @ the YMCA. Getting him into the pool is no longer a major trial and he’s a great listener. If anything, I think he’s forced to work way harder in these lessons than he had too in past lessons. L. and I are convinced he’s going to have to repeat this class, but that’s OK with us. He’s also decided that the Devonshire pool trumps Lee Street beach.

Work

Don’t even ask. Next question.

Reading

I started Game of Thrones awhile back. I then read Clash of Kings and Storm of Swords basically back to back. I’ve logged over 2400+ pages of Mr. Martin’s series and I’m liking it. I started Feast for Crows, but I’m mildly burnt out on reading to be honest.

Wii

Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a pain in my ass. Fun, but a pain in my ass.

Music

Listening to a whole host of stuff. Band of Horses, Male Bonding, Black Keys, Broken Social Scene, Tallest Man on Earth, Frightened Rabbit + some old Chicago punk.

We are looking for a house, and my dad keeps reminding me of all the issues a home brings. Yardwork, snow removal, etc. But we are ready. Anything to not hear our downstairs neighbors arguing everyday, and trying to find street parking, and schlepping up two flights of stairs with a toddler, a car seat, and groceries. we hope to be in a house in Evanston by Christmas.

Swimming lessons…we signed Henry up for lessons at Loyola starting in September. Our problem isn’t getting him into the water, but what to do once he’s in there. He is not afraid of the water, which makes me REALLY afraid. He is not afraid of much, and it is really hard to teach a kid to be cautious when he thinks he is invinceable. But we are excited for the lessons.

Underlings are always good! We’re doing well. James turns 2 on Monday - I can’t believe how fast the last year goes. I start my clerkship in 3 weeks - eek! Have started looking for a permanent job - also eek! Both of us did the NYC triathlon a few weeks ago and did well and now the training for the half-ironman really heats up; just 6 weeks to go.
