Sorry - found these gems @ lunch today.
Soulside - Clifton Wall
Probably one of the most influential bands from the early D.C. (read: Pre-Fugazi) scene that I really enjoyed. Clifton Wall is probably one of my favorite songs by them.
Jawbox - Send Down
Pretty sure this was the tour that I saw Jawbox, Gauge and Shudder to Think on. This was - I think - the first tour where it was J. Robbins and Bill Barbot playing guitars together.
Tiger Trap - Words and Smiles
How does a punk rock kid like me get into a Twee band from the Pacific Northwest like Tiger Trap? No idea. But I do know that I have adored every single release that they put out.
Dianogah - What Is Your Landmass
I gobble up every Jay Ryan prints - I don’t even know why. I have tubes and tubes of his handscreened, limited edition posters that someday I will frame and arrange throughout some room in my house. People tend to forget - or don’t even know that he was in a great band called Dianogah.
Sweep the Leg Johnny - Bloodlines
The self proclaimed hardest working band in Chicago. I always adored them for the frenetic energy they brought to their live shows and that you could just never pin them down genre wise.
Cap’n Jazz - Little League
I just saw and spoke with Tim Kinsella at the Gauge reunion show. It was good to catch up with him, if even for a short time. I’m psyched to see Cap’n Jazz this summer. I might have some extra tickets, but it’s a Sunday night and the same night as Pavement.
