7th Anniversary @ GE

Our 7th anniversary dinner @ Graham Elliot went something like this.

0. 2002 Gaja Ca’Marcanda Magari (from our own stash).

1. Black pepper, parmesan, white truffle oil and chive popcorn.

2. Wagyu beef tartare.

3. Hand pulled mozarella and heirloom tomatoes.

4. Corn chowder.

5. Bison skirt steak.

6. Blackberry panna cotta.

7. 10 year old port.

The music went something like this.

A. Band of Horses

B. Red Hot Chili Peppers

C. The Ting Tings

D. Jets to Brazil

E. Ra Ra Riot

F. Social Distortion

G. Pet Shop Boys

And then, we even got a mini tour of the kitchen, shook hands with the Chef and really felt like a lucky couple for having each other for all these years and being treated really nice @ Graham Elliot. OK, I had to show him my tattoo since he and I have the same damn one which resulted in a conversation like this:

Sous Chef: Bullshit, he doesn’t have one like yours!

Chef: Check it out…

Sous Chef: Ha! He does! Cool!

It’s my kind of place, from the food, decor, vibe, service and music. We’ll be going back and I encourage each and every one of you to go as well.

Somewhat suprising, then, that this wasn’t on the menu.

Yes. Congratulations indeed. Sounds like a great meal. We have two nice ones coming up – one to celebrate Mike’s promotion and me getting a clerkship for next year, and the second for our anniversary – 6 year for us soon.

I think we’re going to back to Eleven Madison Park for the celebration, and right now possibley Jean-Georges for the anniversary – but we’re open to suggestions…
