An Open Letter ….

Pardon me.

Dear Ass Clown Who Stole My Obama/Biden Sign –

I don’t care if you’re a Democrat/Republican/Libertarian/Independent/Socialist/Communist/Terrorist or what, but stealing all of the Obama signs on my block was silly. Really. What exactly are you going to do with 5 Obama/Biden signs? Maybe you burned them. Maybe you put them in the trash. Maybe you’re keeping them for yourself.

In any case, I just want to let you know that if you’re a Republican wank who thinks that by taking people’s yard signs that you’re potentially suppressing the vote – you’re not.

I’ll close with some numbers:

349 – 163

Maybe that’s not compelling enough. OK. How about?

64,058,708 (53%) – 56,511,233 (46%)

Your friendly neighborhood progressive.

While my political obsession winds down, I have to say that I feel much more at ease and more optimistic today and yesterday than I have in a long time. Most of you know me as one salty, pessimistic S.O.B sometimes, but I feel genuinely different after this election. Is it me? Am I making this out to be bigger than it is? I don’t think I am.

By the way, what’s the newspaper count for the crew? I struck out yesterday looking for papers. This morning, though, when getting some Claritin I was able to score a two copies of the Tribune and Sun-Times. One for me, one for Mr. I.

I think I’m going to stop by the Democratic HQ and pick up a Obama 2008 sign.

I was surprised that everyone is looking for memorabilia from the election. People are looking for the “Irish Americans for Obama” signs that were up around our neighborhood and apparently the NY Times had to print extra copies and still ran out. Stupid me who has a subscription just read my paper and then put it in the recycling bin.

I’d say the person who took the signs is keeping them for himself.

We scored 1 Sun Times yesterday. I figure we may have to fork over some cash to get a framed print.

I feel the optimism too. I felt compelled to call some old friends and apologize for being a dick. Of course that was before the work day. I just wanted to go to bed after. I stayed up till 3AM drinking Booker’s to celebrate. I can’t hang anymore!!

T, the convenience store at Ogilvie station has gobs of Sun Times. Do you want me to grab you a few? I actually saw a guy driving a mini forklift inside the building delivery a pallet of papers. I bought two today, but realzied I should have gotten a few more. I want to laminate one and put it in Henry’s scrapbook.

During the aldermanic elections in my ward, the same thing happened with signs. People were furious because Bernie Stone’s thugs kept stealing Naisy Dolar signs, and then replacing them with Bernie Stone signs! It’s one thing to steal signs, it’s another to replace them with the opponent’s. He still won, of course, the little twit.

Interesting to see how hiw cabinet shapes up.

I am not really excited to hear that John Kerry is a rumor as Secretary of State.

Man Shipley, that’s great! The sign thing. I concur with Kerry. Dick Lugar would be quite good, in my mind.

I’d like to see Tom Vilsak of Iowa in some cabinet-level position. Education secretary maybe?

I heard Agriculture potentially. At least with John Kerry he could bore dissenting countries to death with his soliloquies – that’s a feature.
