Goodfellas – The thump that leads into the trunk opening is genius.
Reservoir Dogs – It kicks @ 7:12 but the lead up is the best part.
Wargames – This creeped the living crap out of me as a kid.
Three O’Clock High – Excellent jump cut opening.
Trainspotting – Another excellent jump cut opening.
City of God – And another one.
Blade – One of my old editors heralded this as, “The greatest opening 10 minutes of any movie I’ve ever seen”

City of God opening is teriffic – I’ve never empathized with a chicken so much. Except for that one “incident.”
I also love the monologue opening to The Godfather. “I believe in America.”
