So in my unending quest to fill the coffers of the City of Skokie, me and some of the developers went to the Skokie Sports park @ lunch to go whack some baseballs in the batting cages there.
As usual, the batting cages were empty which meant we could cut our teeth on the medium and slow pitch stations. Medium cage – not so good for me. Slow cage – decent. What I’ve learned is that I’m more of a slap hitter these days – not that I was some monster hitter in Little League.
Anyway, happy to report that it was fun and an excellent lunch time diversion. Oh, and Mr. Selman can hit. So can Mr. Perkins.

Real baseballs or sponge balls?
Posted 24 May 2006 at 3:44 pm ¶good question mike?
imo, i hate the sponge balls because they tend to spin erratically zinging up to home plate. i almost had a finger taken off swinging at a pitch high and inside because i thought it was going to be over the plate!
another question, do they have 12″ lob pitch softball cages? those are the best. an ejnjoyable way to blow of some steam. WHACK!
Posted 24 May 2006 at 5:00 pm ¶I found one of those lob pitch softball cages here in DC quite by accident. its located near the best damn wing joint of all time. and I tell you what – those lob pitch softballs are a son of a bitch to hit at first. I was swinging WAY ahead of them.
